These GREAT courses offer ideas and assistance in Program Development, Professionalism, Child Development, Health & Safety, and much more! The Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is a nationally recognized certification process for the child care field. A CDA requires 120 clock hours of training in specific categories. Join the growing number of professionally recognized child care providers by obtaining a CDA credential! Attend NSU Child and Family Network classes to prepare for the CDA. Getting your CDA is one way to meet the Child Care Center Director qualifications. These classes also count toward the clock hours required by the Child Care Licensing and Regulatory Section for Class A & B Centers and registered Family Child Care Homes.
Important note about the Textbook and Workbook: Beginning this semester the textbook and workbook are required for all CDA courses offered. We believe this change in the CDA curriculum will greatly enhance and strengthen our CDA training program.
Cost for each CDA course is $100 for 30 clock hours. (Example: Course 1A costs $100). You must send at least a $35 payment for each of the courses you are taking. (Example: 1B and 2B = $70 down payment) This form and your deposit must be returned by January 5, 2010. Courses need to be paid in full by January 19, 2010. Please call our office at 677-3159 or 1-800-796-9080 (outside Shreveport calling area) if you are unsure of which class to register for, or if you have any other questions.
CDA Center Reduced Tuition Program-
This will count as a staff benefit (Tuition Reimbursement) under ‘Administrative Practices’ for the Two Stars in Quality Start.
To be eligible for the tuition reduction, Class A child care centers must have staff members enrolled in a minimum of four courses per semester. With the tuition reduction, centers will pay $50.00 for each registered participant per course, and the Center Reduced Tuition Program will cover the balance for qualified participants. All fees must be paid by one center check and accompany the Center Reduced Tuition Program Application prior to the beginning of the semester. Applications with requirements are available from NSU-CFN. This application is separate from the CDA course application.
